BOTT STREET ATTACHED HOUSING

Details
Through the development of a unique townhouse typology, Mark Williams Architects were able to meet authority constraints and enable the client to obtain swift approval for the development of five freehold attached dwellings where traditional housing would produce four.
The key to the three-story townhouse design was the unique relationship created between the outdoor breezeway space, that punctures the building from north to south, and the internal living & bedrooms that envelop it. The outdoor space becomes partially enclosed by the upper and lower living areas of the adjacent unit resulting in the outdoor an extension of the indoor.
Composed of a pallet of lightweight sheet and timber materials the building form is given a lightness that reflects and advances the tradition of the timber housing typology unique to Brisbane.
